Rainy day spin

Left for a ride this morning around 11 a.m.  It was threatening to rain but nothing was falling as I finally got my belongings together.  What seemed like the usual eternity of scrambling to find random articles of clothing actually took only about 10 minutes.  At the last second as I walk over to mount my trusty stead for the day's work, I sat down at my laptop to find new music to feed the legs and fit the forecasted rainy conditions.  With new music on the iPhone I was comfortable setting out for a long wet ride.  I rode most of the ride at a tempo pace trying to stay below 250 watts.  I threw in 2 sections at threshold for 15 minutes with 30 minutes rest in between.  I am still attempting to build my base miles at this point so I will have a solid frame to put the high end work on top of.  The ride time totaled 3 hours with a TSS of 200.  I stopped by The Speed Studio in the evening to exchange contact info with Steve Ruck and set up a pro road fit appointment for one of my clients.  It was no longer raining by the time I ended my ride, but the damage was done and my joints were cold and achy.  I spun home to small dying fire which I immediately rekindled back to a roaring heat spewing machine.  The heat radiating from fireplace was a perfect end to different kind of day.  Sometimes the rides in the rain provide a different view of the same old roads we ride day in and day out.  All and all, the ride was very refreshing.

... This doesn't mean I am not hoping for 85 and sunny tomorrow :)
